Burnt Ends and the Back 9

Ohhh, no…this isn’t a post about barbecue…though that would be delicious.

It’s about the fact that I just burned my thumb on my broiler…yah. Not fun. The ironic part was that I had just gotten back from errands where I had planned to buy an ice cube tray…since I had no ice and was sort of feelin’ like an iced coffee in the morning (not gonna happen)….didn’t buy the ice cube tray…then burned my thumb. Life likes play those little jokes every once in a while, huh? haha

My thumb is fine – nothing a few minutes under cold, running water couldn’t fix. :)

Today was a great day! Pretty cool out, but still sunny and beautiful. A day off equals “sleeping in” aka get up at 9. I woke up craving Panda Puffs. I seriously love how crunchy they are…and they stay crunchy!

It’s funny because a week or so… ago – a reader asked how I always eat so little for breakfast – and, it’s true, I never really ate a sit-down breakfast because I never really was hungry…but my reintroduction to amazing cereals has sort of changed that…well, at least on mornings where I’m not rushing out the door. Even if those cereals are perhaps meant for the 10 and under age group…. :)

My cereal and milk were eaten out of a water glass this morning..feeling fancy? Nope. Forget to run the dishwasher yesterday? Yup. :)

I also sipped on my standard coffee throughout the morning.

I spent the majority of the morning and early afternoon going through all of my school stuff – books, papers, notebooks, note cards, worksheets…basically all the clutter that accumulates over a semester. I figured it’d be good to go through it now, instead of digging through it while trying to study for finals. :)

Lunch was the last of my amazing lil’ tortillas, with French Onion Laughing Cow, mixed herbs and greens and Dietz and Watson’s Buffalo Style Chicken Breast. Deeelicious.

Also munched on some snacks throughout the afternoon:

I got a lot of work done this afternoon. Woo. Hopefully it’ll make the latter part of this week a little less strenuous. Dinner was delicious (and totally worth the injury, haha). I had Morningstar Farm’s Buffalo Wings with honey mustard and peas. Obviously not the most creative meal in the world – but very satisfying! :)

Okay, I do have to say I’m SUPER excited for premiere of the back 9 (episodes) of GLEE! starting tonight!!!

  • Any one else out there a major GLEEK??

As a former choral singer and musical theatre geek…this is my jam so to speak..haha.

Everybody's workin' for…

THE WEEKEND!!!!

Happy weekend, lovahs (not gonna lie, I first typed out something that resembled “lobstahhs”)…ahh, lobsters reminds me of Friends. “She’s your lobster!!”

Anyyyway, I am so happy that it’s the weekend…it’s amazing how such a short week could feel SO long!

I got to bed pretty late last night – thanks to lotttts of work…thanks to my amazing ability to procrastinate. Caffeine was definitely necessary — 5 or less hours of sleep? Yah, I wouldn’t have functioned today without it. A leftover latte stepped up to the plate – caramel with cinnamon.

Caffeine powered me through my first two classes – but I was starting to feel the lack of sleep around lunch time. I got the classic combo of a coffee and a salad..hah. Yar. Still delicious though. I didn’t take a pic cuz I got caught up in chatting with this lovely lady, who I discovered HAD a blog during our chat-fest!

I will “recycle” a photo…for the purpose of keepin’ it interesting. …is it technically recycling if I took the pic but it never made it to the blog? haha Anyway, double the size of the salad and that was my lunch.

I munched on Animal Crackers throughout my last class — necessary and FUN! haha

Got home…chatted on the phone…all that boring stuff. Oh – had a cheese stick, but that’s pretty boring, too.

And then I made the most amaziiiing dinner I’ve had in a while.

“Pizza”

This pizza was made of a whole wheat wrap, 1 Tbsp. bbq sauce, mozz cheese (there’s more on there than it looks…it’s all hidden under the greenery), spicy peppers, red onion, mixed greens, salt, pepper and red pepper flakes.

I browned the wrap first and then did just bbq sauce, cheese, onions and peppers. After that was heated through I added all the greens and cheese and heated it for a few minutes. Seasoned with salt, pepper & red pepper flakes. Pretty standard pizza-making procedure. My stomach is so, so happy.

It’s like a pizza and salad in one! A Za’lad? haha Okay, that was lame.

  • Anyone have any amazing weekend plans??

My dad is coming into town tomorrow so I’m looking forward to that. Other than that, I am really looking forward to a chill weekend.

Off to stretch away tension and relaaaax. :)

What Blizzard?

Evening beauties!! How are you all doing??

Did the blizzard hit you??

It was supposed to hit here (many schools closed and even my University closed at noon)…but it really hasn’t done much except rain/snow. It is still snowing, and has started to stick a little – but definitely nowhere near the 4-8 or 9 inches that they talked about all this week. Let down! haha

I was hoping for a snow day so I kept waking up (wishful thinking?) – but when it was 6:00am and no e-mail or text had “pinged” on my Blackberry, I knew school was ON. I got myself up a little later than usual (hit the snooze a few times…woopsies), I made myself a ‘leftover latte’ – this one hazelnut and added some cinnamon. Yummy – yummy.

I took the T to school today – just one of those mornings. I’m happy we DID have classes because I got my French quiz back and I did really well on it!! All that internal worry and freaking out for nothin’! haha School closed at noon – so after lab I quickly grabbed myself another coffee from the café (I’m addicted, what can I say) and made the trek home.

Lunch was another salad – this one with tomatoes, feta and spicy peppers. Yum. It hit the spot. I kind of lounged all afternoon and made myself a microwave brownie – putting it in for less time so that it was still sorta liquidy…hehe yummm.

A couples of cheese sticks and some Cinnamon Raisin Swirl also made it into my stomach by mid-afternoon.

Dinner included  sweeeet potato – baked/mashed- avec hot sauce. Nice and comforting.

In other news, today I was thinking about the progress I’ve made on my “New Years Resolutions” – I’ve taken up yoga (I need to work on it being more frequent though), I’m traveling to see my best friend later this year!!,I’ve definitely switched up my eats a bit, OH! and I want to go to Foodbuzz Fest!!

  • Any other Foodbuzz publishers thinking about Foodbuzz ‘10??
  • You guys make any resolutions?? How are they going??

Hope everyone is doing well!! We’re over half-way through the week! Yayyy!

Feelin' Saucy

Happy Wednesday, lovelies. How is the week treating you?? Well, I hope!

Today — it snowed. I was totally not aware it was supposed to snow, and failed to open my blinds before I left my apartment so needless to say I was super surpried to find white stuff on the ground when I stepped out the door. The funny thing is that I think it was the warmest day in a while. haha :)

It was reaaaallly tough to get out of bed this morning. I don’t know what it is with this week, but the snooze button was my friend…or worst enemy. I scrambled to get ready and ran out the door – and did not have the time to eat or even gulp down coffee before my first class. How I survived? I do not know.

I grabbed a coffee in the 10 minute window in between my French class and it’s lab. I ran and grabbed some fruit and a coffee. It was glorious.

After my classes were finished I had to stick around to work on a French presentation for Friday. So I grabbed a buffalo chicken wrap from a store nearby…it was good. I ate half in the library and then the other half when I got back to my apartment.

I munched on a cheese stick (cheddar, yumm) before settling in to make dinner.

Dinner tonight was meatless meatballs and veggie tomato sauce. Yum. I love the sauce that comes in the can…it cost like… a dollar and it’s delicious!! I could eat this sauce by the spoonful — it’s just so fresh tasting.

Tonight I’m debating on whether or not I should just skip my work tonight, and go to bed early or stay up and get some work done. I think I might go with option #1…I’m tired already…which knowing me, means I won’t be extremely productive. Getting a good night’s sleep, and waking up early is probably the better option…we shall see! haha

Halfway through the week! and dreaming of the weekend ahead. This semester is draggging. :)

Anyone watch Biggest Loser last night? Thoughts??

"Feels like -7"

Yep — that’s what it felt like today. The wind was UNBELIEVABLE. It seriously PUSHED me, and there were points where I held my breath because if I breathed I would suck in too much air because of the wind. It was crazy, and probably the coldest day of the year so far…eww. Spring, come quickly! We need you!

I couldn’t fall asleep last night ’cause of the wind..so I was up until at least two — and so I hit the snooze a few times and got up a half-hour later than usual. Still, I’m thinking tonight will be an early one. :)

I made myself an unpictured latte (huuuge)…gulped that down, and endured two classes before grabbing an (again, unpictured) apple and later a cheese stick. The day went by smoothly enough, but yeah…I’m happy to be home. I grabbed a coffee on the way home…more out of a need for something hot than the need for caffeine. I took the T — it was waay too cold to walk — and grabbed some sushi on the way home, too.

By the time I actually sat down for “lunch” it was 5pm. The sushi was so delicious. Exactly what my bod needed — that and a warm blanket and relaxation. :)

Dinner will be late tonight (considering my 5pm lunch-time)…however, it will consist of “meat”balls and bell peppers. Not sure on the specifics, but I have no doubt it’ll be delicious. I just knew that I’d probably be exhausted by the time I ate so I figured I’d post prior to my final eats.

Aside from an awkward eating schedule, today has been great. I am so happy it is the weekend, and surprisingly I don’t have a ton of work to do before Monday. So it shall be a weekend of fun, relaxation and general merriment. :-P

I hope your week went well!! and even if it didn’t — it’s the weekend! Wooo!

Anyone got any great plans??
