Leftovahhs

Boy oh boy — has today been a busy one, or what?! I have been going nonstop since I woke up. I still have stuff to complete, but luckily it mostly involves editing/studying. Phew. haha :)

I woke up pretty early, and since I ran out of hazelnut syrup (and there are no Targets I can get to [I normally get Archer Farms brand] and none of the Starbucks around here carry the syrup in the store!) I made drip coffee instead of espresso. I was excited to try out a new flavahhh! Woo! haha Thanks to TJ Maxx, I found this lovely little ditty:

Mmm mmm good. This stuff is delicious, and the raspberry smell is lovely. It’s definitely a sort of “artificial” raspberry taste/smell (it reminds me of something, but I can’t put my finger on it!) – but it really is delicious. It brightens up the coffee. I had a couple of mugs, along with some grapefruit!

I worked on my paper all morning, and at noon took a break for some leftover soup. The look of this soup cold…scared me – not a pretty sight. However, once it got warmed up – it looked more like it did the other night, and was wonderfully delicious again. :) Unfortunately, stirring it while warming it up made for a less than perfect photo — c’est la vie!

I ate that while typing away, and broke for a snack later on. Cheese and Dark Chocolate Dreams? Okay, so I didn’t eat them together, but they weren’t too far apart. haha

These were the star performers in my dinner tonight:

Nom.Nom.Nom. haha

Alright, I should get back to work so that I’m not up too late…plus, I’m not gonna lie…I want to watch the new episode of The Office!!  :-D

It’s almost Friday, lovelies! Wooo!

A little bit of Buzzzzz

First bit of news….you may have noticed some layout changes in the blog…

I’m happy to say that I’m now a part of the FoodBuzz Featured Publishers Program. :) Yay! I feel so legit now.

In other news….

Wednesday is ovahhh! Woo. It means the week is more than halfway done – yesss.

Today was a good day — albeit wicked busy. I had my Design Lab, French, French Lab and Journalism…alll in a row aka every single class within ten minutes of the next. It meant a lot of running around — which meant not a lot of time for eats.

In the morning, I had a coffee before I left my apartment (it was a ridonculously small “leftover latte“), and I grabbed another on my way to school (no picture of that one..but you’ve all seen my Starbucks lattes before)…seeing as I couldn’t even think as to when I would have the opportunity to eat. …I really need to start packing food.

not.enough.caffeine.

I didn’t eat a real breakfast (my bad)…so I grabbed lunch after all my classes were done with a few friends. It was great to catch up and EAT! haha I grabbed a salad because honestly..I didn’t feel like looking around the cafe.. and it was pretty good. A little soggy but good.

After eating, we waited in line for about an hour for BRUINS TICKETS! Yay, I’m excited to go to the game. :-D I didn’t finish my salad so it came back to my apartment with me where I doused it (okay…so doused is an exaggeration) with Maple Grove Farms‘ Cranberry Balsamic Vinaigrette. Quite yummy. haha

By the time this picture was taken all of the chicken and all but one of the mandarin oranges were longggg gone.

I snacked on a cheese stick (yummm love these) and then got down to business making dinnnah.

On the menu — I don’t know what to call it…my own pad thai of sorts? haha

The players:

  • Toasted (by me) cashews [just threw 'em in a hot, dry pan for a little]
  • Frozen corn
  • Brown rice
  • Hoisin sauce
  • Sriracha sauce
  • A bit of soy sauce
  • Parsley
  • Spicy peppers

Ta-daaaa:

I’m actually really proud of this one. It came out really good…especially for being a sort of “throw this in, throw that in” type of thing.

What I did:

  1. Threw the cashews into a dry, hot pan until they were a little toasty — then took them out and just put ‘em on the cutting board
  2. Threw corn in the pan until it was defrosted and had started browning (honestly as much as you want or any veggie or protein that you might want)
  3. Threw in the brown rice and let it get a little toasty.
  4. Added about a teaspoon of hoisin sauce.
  5. Added about a teaspoon of soy sauce.
  6. Add as much sriracha as you dare
  7. Added parsley — and tossed everything together.
  8. Turned the heat off and then added the peppers…just so they’d stay crunchy.
  9. Then, chopped up the cashews a bit, and a bit of extra parsley .
  10. Assemble. haha :)
  11. And most importantly EAT!

It was seriously BOMB!!

I’m going to relax for a little (aka ingest copious amounts of Dark Chocolate Dreams or popcorn or both….), and get down to business…seeing as I have a tonnn of work to do for my classes…including watch a 3 hour silent movie online. Joy. haha I’ll break out the popcorn for that one. :-p Either way, I’ll probably munch my way through the evening…per usual.

I hope you’re all having a faannntastic week.

Kink…os

Evening lovelies. How’d everyone’s Tuesday go?? Mine has been pretty busy, considering I didn’t have any classes.

One nice thing…got to sleep in. Miracle. Especially considering they are doing construction in my apartment building right now. I think they might be the quietest, most considerate construction men, everrrrr. I’ve barely heard them…and they definitely did not wake me up. Thumbs up to them. *knock on wood that is stays that way*

Once I was up…decided it was latte time. I broke out my fave little guy:

I made myself a pot of espresso and assembled a latte. Yumm.

So I sipped on that while I got ready for the day. Perhaps the surge of caffeine is what I can blame this picture on:

I honestly...don't.even.know.

Also, welcome to my bathroom. hahaha

I was out and about doing some errands for a while…had to get to Kinkos/FedEx Office (the store says that it’s now FedEx Office, but still has the huge FedEx Kinkos sign on it…). It was seriously gorrrgeous out. Especially considering yesterday, it was awesome. So I faxed my little heart out and almost witnessed a brawl as the two women behind me fought over who was next in line…yah. Calm down peoples.

I also stopped by the grocery store and picked some more DCD…I’m addicted and officially have “stocked’ pb in my apartment. haha I also picked up some lunch….sushiii.

It looks pretty, but it was just alright…doesn’t compare to the sushi at Whole Food’s. There was too much cucumber…it made them almost watery tasting. …needless to say I ate it though.

Still hungry, I noshed on my last twisty string cheese.

Later, I got impatient while waiting for dinner to be ready and had a couple spoons worth of CRS…dangerous.

add.ict.ive.

Dinner though was lovely combo of sweet potato fries (also known as cheetahs to some) and some spicy spinach. Actually..I ate the whole box of spinach…hahahaha.

Ahh, so I’ve got a hugggh jasss amount of work to do tonight…I’ve been doing it all day — and I can at least say that everything I need to do for tomorrow is done — but I sitll have a ton to do for Friday. I had wanted to go to this movie night at my school tonight (which is 1/2 over by now anyway), but I just had too much work to do. They were showing Couples Retreat and I love Vince Vaughn…boo, wish I could have gone.

Oh well. Time for me to work my booty off — for a whole 10 more minutes and then inevitably get sucked into Biggest Loser (or at the very least the last 10 minutes of BL).

I just want to hug Bob. Anyone else? haha

Have a great night loves!!

It's what's on the inside that counts…

Evening my lovelies! Hope you are all doin’ well! It is a wet..wet..wet..wet..WET day in Boston. Luckily, I was armed with an umbrella and my hair was kind and didn’t get all frizzy and nasty. So it was a good day. haha

I had the first day of my French class today — and gahh, I hate the fact that I have classes back to back cuz it means I have to sit towards the back of the room, and honestly, I hate sitting so far back..I just feel disconnected. Plus, I think I my brain was totally awesome and forgot every single thing that I learned last semester…oy. *hitting the books*

I had “good” luck today at Starbucks. They made my drink wrong (they always make a skinny vanilla instead of hazelnut… c’monnnn – people can order a “tripleshot.tall.soy.nonfat.nofoam.cinnamon.latte.dipped in gold” and they get it right — but “skinny.hazelnut.latte.” is too much…okay done griping), so I got 2 tall lattes for the price of one. Score! It’s not that I don’t *like* vanilla…it’s just that most of the time they make them reallllly sweet. Lucky for me, this vanilla one wasn’t…so I downed a tall skinny hazelnut and a tall skinny vanilla in about an hour. haha Needless to say I was READY!! for my last class of the day!!

I hadn’t eaten all day (just 2 lattes in the belly)…so my stomach was pretty much eating itself by the time I got home. I skeptically chose a banana that looked a little past its…uhh..prime. They always say ‘never judge a book by its cover’ …never judge a banana…oh you get it. The banana was perfect, and so yummy. Nom.Nom.Nom.

As delicious as it was…more food was necessary…in came a lovely string cheese. Love these puppies. Playing with your food is just … fun.

For lunch, I made myself a ginormous bowl of split pea soup (avec parsley).

With that bowl, I hit a huggghh jasssss milestone. I finished the soup. Wooo! haha I can’t believe I finished it before it went bad. How long did that take me? A week and a half, maybe? haha

PROOF.

I mostly vegged all afteroon — the disgusting weather (though it was wicked warm! 52!) was NOT motivating. So I accomplished….nadda. Okay that’s a lie…I looked at blogs, commented…Facebooked…Twittered. haha :-p

Dinnnaah…I felt inspired to break out my wok…love that thing! (Yay IKEA!) So I sauteed up some brown rice, corn, mixed veggie medley, soy sauce and chili paste. THIS.WAS.BOMB. So delish.

Now, I should probably get some work done. Booo. I’m so over school…not a good thing when we’re only a week into the semester…haha I just wanna play!! …obvs not realistic…so I’ll be burying my nose in books soon enough. Perhaps rewarding myself every now and then with some Dark Chocolate Dreams every now and then…mwahaha.

I hope you all are doing wonderfully, and had a good start to the week. One down…four to go! haha

Off Day

Hola my beauties. I hope you all are doing well!!

Today, though no classes are on the schedule, I made my way up to campus to see if I could get a locker so that I wouldn’t kill my back carrying around 50 pounds of ridiculousness everyday. Yep — my school does lockers…how very high school, no? haha It’s rather hilarious…however, I think it will save my back this semester.

That done I made my way home, and finished up the latte that I had made and started earlier in the morning. It was really nice out today — blue skies and all (2 days in a row! w00t!!) \ — but chilly soo the toasty drink definitely hit the spot.

I think today was sort of an off day for me. I am feeling 99.5% better — though I still need a swig of DayQuil to get me through the day – but I think after a day of lugging heavy books and trudging the hills of Boston — my bod was like NO. NoNoNo. I wasn’t hungry for breakfast, and I wasn’t really hungry for meals…but I WAS hungry. I had a bunch of unpictured cheese sticks and this banana before noon.

I even had a couple of BIG spoonfuls of Dark Chocolate Dreams. I was still super hungry though…but for something CRUNCHY and not like popcorn crunchy…REALLY crunchy. I found the (naughty) answer in my freezer.

- BISCOTTI…frozen at that. …I had three. haha (at 110 calories a pop though, that’s not too terrible [read: could have been worse])

That did it though…I drifted off into a mid-afternoon nap…which I woke up from because of phone calls and because I was suddenly hot as hell. Go figs. I think my body just doesn’t like me. I’m glad I napped though..I feel much more “me’ now.

Probably due to my mid-afternoon biscotti-fest, I wasn’t all that hungry for dinner, but I knew I should eat something or I’d end up eating like another 5 million (okay…exaggeration) cookies or an entire tub of DCD later. :) So I decided ..broth. Broth with corn? Broth with corn and red pepper flakes? Sure! It’s actually pretty yummy…so I”m not complaining. I’m eating it right out of the measuring cup. haha

In action…because let’s be honest…no amount of trickery is going to make corn floating in brown liquid look appetizing. haha

I’ve got some more work to get done and then its an early bedtime for me…bright and early classes. JOYOUS!

Almost TGIF though — Woohoo!

Anyone have awesome weekend plans??
