These boots are made for walkin'

Hello, hello!! It was a beautiful day in Boston today. It was one of those days where it was just impossible to stay inside. It was a little cool, but in the sun it was absolutely perfect.

The city comes alive on days like today – there are easily 5x more people out and about – it makes for wonderful people watching and even better interactions…especially with tourists… some of them are too funny. There are days when I’m really curious as to how many vacation photos I am in the background of… haha

I walked around alllll afternoon. Twas glorious!

I met up with my brother for lunch at Trident Booksellers and Cafe. We also like to call it “The Trident”…as do many other people. I got a glorrrious latte, we split sweet potato fries (their garlic and chive mayo and curry mustard dipping sauces are amazing), and I got the Cape Cod sandwich – which is on Challah, yummm – so good. I took a picture of my latte…but got so excited when the food came…that I sort of forgot to take pics. Sorry – good food makes me excitable (and forgetful).

I decided that today was an extension of “Let’s celebrate that you didn’t bomb the skit” day. haha I wanted something different for dinner, and in my travels during the day (I ended up walking quite a lot)…I ended up at Whole Foods and picked myself up some Annie’s Whole Wheat and White Cheddar mac and cheese, an Izze soda (bloobs), and a banana choc chip muffin…cuz it can’t be bad, right? especially with that many chocolate chips. haha :)

This photo is like the Sears Family Portrait of food photos…slightly awkward…stiff… All I’m missing is one of those horrendous – looks like the worst cloudy day ever/a bruise – backdrops and we’d be in business!

  • What is your favorite thing to do on a gorgeous day?

Obviously…mine is to walk around and people watch. :)

I hope you all are wonderful!

Shots anyone?

Thankfully – today was a gorrrrgeous day in Boston. It started off grey, but around noonish blue skies were plentiful!!! It warranted lots of walks!! :-D I do love my neighborhood – flowers and greenery everywhere!!

My morning started pretty early – so I made myself the usual latte. I find it kind of humorous that the most action my shot glasses get is to be filled with espresso in the morning to measure out my coffee. :-p

I munched on some Thai chili lime cashews from Trader Joe’s throughout the morning – awkward choice, but they were awesome.

My sweet tooth said hello around lunch time. Van’s Hearty Oats Maple Fusion waffles came to the rescue. Mmm, these are so good. I’m just disappointed that there aren’t more in a box. :)

It was so gorgeous out that staying inside was just not an option…so I went for a lovely walk around Back Bay. I stopped by Borders and picked up Lisa Lillien’s newest addition to the Hungry Girl cookbook series. I love her e-mails, her cookbooks, and she’s just a fab lady. The past few cookbooks have relied, quite often, on manufactured food products – however, I was really glad to see that this cookbook, Hungry Girl 1-2-3,  has a ton of recipes that are full of fresh ingredients and whatnot. Plus…there is an entire chapter devoted solely to FRENCH TOAST. Um. YUM!.

I also got an iced passion tea from Starbucks (while rocking flip flops…hehe)! It’s officially spring.

Before I knew it – it was dinner time! With all the rain AND the fact that it is light out past 5:30pm…I couldn’t believe it when it was suddenly 6:15! I decided that I should start usin’ up my soups…considering as the weather gets warms, I think I’ll probably start jonsing for cooler, lighter, more fresh things. :)

On the menu was Trader Joe’s Organic Tomato Bisque (my favorite TJ’s soup) and I toasted up a naan for dipping. hehe Obsessed.

I’ve got some work to do tonight- but nothing too terrible. Hopefully tomorrow will fly by – it is supposed to be in the 70s this weekend!! :-D

I hope you all are doing amaaaaaazing!

…like a box of chocolates…

Hello blogettes! How’s everybody doing this evening?? It’s been rainy and gross (typical) alll day – remarkably even though it was rainy AND a Monday – I had a great day.

I had registration for Fall courses this morning, which actually allowed me to sleep in a little bit. Yay! And when I woke up, I just reheated a Starbucks latte (well…what was left) that I had kept in the fridge. Still tasty, but less left than I thought.

Brand new Disneyland mug though…haha. I had to get a souvenir of some kind – and really? Did we think that it would be anything BUT a mug??

My registration time was at 8:30 – luckily everything worked, and I have all the classes I want for next semester. I probably will not have much of a life in the fall…but you gotta do what you gotta do. haha

I literally BOLTED for my first class, and miraculously walked in with exactly one minute to spare. I discovered running to class is especially difficult in rain boots….

I needed another coffee halfway through the day – so during a break I went down to the cafe and got myself one…it managed to last me until I got home later that afternoon (semi-cold by then..). That would be why there are raindrops on it.

I got back to my apartment to find a little package waiting for me – Easter candy! haha It’s cute. I’m going to try and make it stretch as long as possible….resist the chocolaty goodness…

I got a lot of errands done this afternoon – no point in putting them off for a dry day…the first one will be Thursday…maybe. Plus, had a lunch consisting of multiple cheese sticks and pickles. Quite…the combo.

Dinner tonight – was amazzzzzing. I made my “usual” pizza – however! I used Trader Joe’s Whole Wheat Tandoori Naan in place of a tortilla. Oh.My.God. So good. It has more calories (not by much though) – but also more fiber – and I loooved how crunchy it got on the outside and how pillowy it stayed on the inside. It almost seemed to melt in my mouth. Mmm. This will be made again soon!!

  • What’s the best new (to you) product you’ve tried lately??

Procrastination Station

Hello, hello! I hope you all are doing wonderfully…I can’t believe it’s already 7:30…eeps. I have so much to do for tomorrow!!

That being said — this’ll be a quickie!

I was up surprisingly early today — coffee chugged and errands done before 11! Nutso…and that includes having to wait 25 minutes for an train at the Fenway stop. Joy..

These dried apricots are just one of the many, many, many things I munched on throughout the afternoon…sorry, I got caught up in work and eating and less the whole taking pictures bit.

Dinner was super early because I was starving…and I just couldn’t get soup out of my head.

I present to you: Trader Joe’s Organic/Vegan Split Pea Soup avec a little spinach and hot sauce, accompanied by crispy shards of whole wheat tortilla. YUM.

My tummy is happy – but I’d be happier if I wasn’t such a good procrastinator! :)

  • Anyone else out there a master procrastinator? :-P

I hope you are all doing fabulously!! Almost Friday!! Wahooo!! :)

Buhbye Stress

Hello, hello beauties!! Happy Wednesday! The week is halfway over — celebraaation! :)

Today was a really good day (even though it was grossly dreary! come back sun!!) – I got back my French quiz that I took after my lovely early morning, fire-alarm wake up call. Aced it! Hooooray! haha I was, honestly, worried about that one, and she mentioned how poorly some people did on Monday so that made me worry even more. Phew. Stress 1: fini!

Stress 2: journalism midterm. I think I did great on it – and it was allll short answer. That was all done by early afternoon so Stress 2 – byebye!

Obvs, my day began with a leftover latte (caramel flavahhed).

In the 2nd hour of my French lab, I munched on a Caramel Nut Brownie LUNA Bar. This is one of my favorites, too! I just keep discovering more flavors I love. Props to LUNA.

When I got home I munched on some new TJ’s dried apricots (they are much more photogenic than the last ones I had!), a cheese stick and then a banana. A fruit and cheese plate of sorts…minus the plate.

That kept me full most of the afternoon where I just sort of lounged. The grey skies made that reeeeaaaalllly easy. haha :)

Dinner…a familiar player: Tortilla Pizza! I used a new tortilla - Trader Jose’s Handmade 100% Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas. I love them for pizzas! They crisp up really well!! Mine got a little dark, but it was perfect.

On a somber note – I just want to acknowledge the tragic death of Chelsea King, in California. My prayers are certainly with her family – and it’s just a startling reminder that we ALL need to be careful when running, walking or generally being out and about on our own. For those who might not know of the story, Chelsea is a 17 y/o girl from San Diego who went running in a park in her town, and then went missing. Today officials uncovered what they believe to be her body. For the entire story, click here.

I know a lot of women run solo, and this story is just so heartbreaking and disgusting. My heart goes out to her family.

It’s not about being paranoid, but it’s about being aware.

Love.love.love. to all of you!! <3 <3
