Look who came to visit…

Hey lovelies!! I hope you are doing well!! Today was amazing day actually – I don’t know what it was about it really – but …it was fabulous. First and foremost – it didn’t rain!! haha It was grey all day long but it did not rain. It felt very odd to not have a death grip on my umbrella or be anticipating a gust of wind that could turn my umbrella inside out! haha

Also! Look! Look who found his way outside my window…

Good to see you, too, Mr. Robin!

If that doesn’t say “Spring has sprung!” – I don’t know what does!

This morning started with a lovely leftover latte - yum, yum. It fueled me up for a morning of e-mail design and French.

I had packed a snack for the day – Trader Joe’s Maple and Brown Sugar Shredded Wheat. Deelicious.

I munched through the afternoon – but when dinnertime came around I was craving naan again, but knew I wanted to switch it up. I toasted the naan in the oven, and paired it with some “refried” beans…or pinto bean hummus that I mixed up in the food processor. Paired with some mixed veggies, it was a really great meal.

I was still hungry though – so some Kashi Honey Sunshine came to the rescue.

Oh! and I tweeted about this today – but freals I love Jen Aniston. I have yet to see the Bounty Hunter, but I want to (and I don’t really care what reviews say – I still wanna see it haha)…she has a new interview in Harper’s Bazaar UK and I just love her! (source Popsugar)

I love how frank she is in the interview and I just wanna hang out with her. haha Plus, of course she looks fab!

  • She talks about “spring cleaning” in your life. Have you done any spring cleaning in your life at all?

I’ve definitely done my fair share of spring cleaning – friend shedding, pound shedding, insecurity shedding….in my opinion, you have to be happy with yourself first before anything else will fall into place! :)

Pounding the Pavement

Evenin’ blogettes!! I hope you all are well!!

Today was a busy, busy, busy day — especially for my “day off.”

I was up bright and early for an advising session, and then had an internship interview afterward. –a.k.a. I was very overdressed for my advising session haha.

The morning started with a glooorious leftover latte. I think they are the sole reason I get up in the morning…not gonna lie, I have been known to think about how good they are before I’ve gone to bed. Obsessed much? Maybe. There are worse things I could obsess over, right? haha

I spent the early morning scurrying around my apartment getting ready for my advising sesh (aka printing out every known transcript-esque document everrrrr) and getting ready for my interview. After much debate, I ended up with this outfit:

As you can see, I've moved the location of my mirror...you no longer have to view my bathroom. haha

I noticed the awkward placement of the ends of my belt……so they were tucked into belt loops post-paparazzi attack. It was nice enough out that my sweater was heavy enough and I didn’t need a coat (score!) — my only regret: the shoes. They used to fit my feet right…but with weight-loss…they no longer do…this led to blister-mania. Ouch. I’m babying my feet as we speak.

My advising sesh went great – I went to a woman I’d never gone to before and she was awesome. The best part? – I’m only 7 classes away from my degree. THANK GOD! I’m so ready to move beyond lecture halls and language labs.

After advising, I had some time to kill so I wandered over to Whole Foods and picked up a Cedar’s Mediterranean Chickpea Salad, which is sooo good – love the cranberries in it, and a Glacéau Vitamin Water Zero (XXX flavahh).

My interview went really well – which I was happy about, and everyone was very nice. :) I can see it being really easy to get intimidated by the place – it’s massive. I’m excited to work there come summer. Woo being an adult! haha….*I’m not going to say EXACTLY where I will be working…at least for now.

On my way home, I was craving the ‘bucks. I frequent it much less with my own espresso maker now…but mmmm every now and then a latte made by them is just what the doctor ordered.

I tended to my wounded feet over the afternoon and relaxed after a morning/afternoon of pounding the pavement.

Dinner was…a repeat. Tortilla pizza…again! I know, I know…variety is the spice of life – but this thing is just epic. Plus, this time I sauteed up my own spinach and used a little garlic. So… a little different. haha

Tonight, I have a lot that I want to accomplish…I HAVE to study -hardcore- for a midterm, BL is on, too – but I might just catch the end and study during the other 1 hour and 45 minutes before they start the weigh-in, haha, I have a design project that I really need to think more about and just random miscellaneous things that need to get done.

LUCKILY – after tomorrow my week eases up, and my midterms are officially done (it seems like forever ago that they started).I have a lot of fun stuff in store for the week, and of course the topper on the cake is that my vacation starts on Friday. MUCH NEEDED!

  • If you have a spring break or vacation, do you have any plans?? Heck, even if you don’t…if you could just drop everything and travel anywhere, where would you go??

Time for me to buckle down! Have a great night everyone!!

A little bit of Buzzzzz

First bit of news….you may have noticed some layout changes in the blog…

I’m happy to say that I’m now a part of the FoodBuzz Featured Publishers Program. :) Yay! I feel so legit now.

In other news….

Wednesday is ovahhh! Woo. It means the week is more than halfway done – yesss.

Today was a good day — albeit wicked busy. I had my Design Lab, French, French Lab and Journalism…alll in a row aka every single class within ten minutes of the next. It meant a lot of running around — which meant not a lot of time for eats.

In the morning, I had a coffee before I left my apartment (it was a ridonculously small “leftover latte“), and I grabbed another on my way to school (no picture of that one..but you’ve all seen my Starbucks lattes before)…seeing as I couldn’t even think as to when I would have the opportunity to eat. …I really need to start packing food.

not.enough.caffeine.

I didn’t eat a real breakfast (my bad)…so I grabbed lunch after all my classes were done with a few friends. It was great to catch up and EAT! haha I grabbed a salad because honestly..I didn’t feel like looking around the cafe.. and it was pretty good. A little soggy but good.

After eating, we waited in line for about an hour for BRUINS TICKETS! Yay, I’m excited to go to the game. :-D I didn’t finish my salad so it came back to my apartment with me where I doused it (okay…so doused is an exaggeration) with Maple Grove Farms‘ Cranberry Balsamic Vinaigrette. Quite yummy. haha

By the time this picture was taken all of the chicken and all but one of the mandarin oranges were longggg gone.

I snacked on a cheese stick (yummm love these) and then got down to business making dinnnah.

On the menu — I don’t know what to call it…my own pad thai of sorts? haha

The players:

  • Toasted (by me) cashews [just threw 'em in a hot, dry pan for a little]
  • Frozen corn
  • Brown rice
  • Hoisin sauce
  • Sriracha sauce
  • A bit of soy sauce
  • Parsley
  • Spicy peppers

Ta-daaaa:

I’m actually really proud of this one. It came out really good…especially for being a sort of “throw this in, throw that in” type of thing.

What I did:

  1. Threw the cashews into a dry, hot pan until they were a little toasty — then took them out and just put ‘em on the cutting board
  2. Threw corn in the pan until it was defrosted and had started browning (honestly as much as you want or any veggie or protein that you might want)
  3. Threw in the brown rice and let it get a little toasty.
  4. Added about a teaspoon of hoisin sauce.
  5. Added about a teaspoon of soy sauce.
  6. Add as much sriracha as you dare
  7. Added parsley — and tossed everything together.
  8. Turned the heat off and then added the peppers…just so they’d stay crunchy.
  9. Then, chopped up the cashews a bit, and a bit of extra parsley .
  10. Assemble. haha :)
  11. And most importantly EAT!

It was seriously BOMB!!

I’m going to relax for a little (aka ingest copious amounts of Dark Chocolate Dreams or popcorn or both….), and get down to business…seeing as I have a tonnn of work to do for my classes…including watch a 3 hour silent movie online. Joy. haha I’ll break out the popcorn for that one. :-p Either way, I’ll probably munch my way through the evening…per usual.

I hope you’re all having a faannntastic week.
