Come on down!

Good evening everyone!! It’s beautiful right now in Boston…as I type the light is filtering in through my windows (the only time of day I get direct sunlight) and, if it weren’t for National Grid jack-hammering outside of my apartment – it would probably be the most peaceful thing ever. Alas, I’d rather have them hammering away at the road at 6pm instead of early, early in the morning. :)

Today has been an absolutely wonderful day. It’s been quite eventful. First, I woke up this morning, and logged into my Google Reader only to find that (shockingly) I had been fortunate enough to win Ashley’s Calphalon giveaway on Daily Goods. Amazing!! I was truly shocked because well…I never win anything! haha Again, thank you so much, Ashley!!

I’m really excited for those pans, and to try them out! Yipee!!

Today was also “Tea Party Day” in Boston…and Sarah Palin was speaking on the Common at 11. It made for craziness in the Common – which is always exciting. As the weather gets better, more and more events, rallies and festivities take place on the common…weeeee!

This morning started off with my usual coffee:

I also discovered the best way to carry little treats with me and not have them get smooshed:

My sunglasses are always on my face or on top of my head…so why not use the case, right? The Lemon Luna just exemplified my mood for the day.

I did a little shopping on my way home from class…stopped at TJ’s for some of these beauties!!

Tulips are my favorite flower – they’re just gorgeous. I love that they have greenery, too…the contrast of their bright colors and the green leaves…ahh yes, beautiful.

I also made an awesome discovery while in Marshall’s!! “CHEAP” Justin’s Maple Almond Butter! Okay..still not cheap but $2 less than other places! Ahh, this is why I love Marshall’s – such random and amazing finds!

Lunch you ask? Multiple PB & J (Mighty Maple + Blackberry Jam) roll ups. Nom.

Dinner…oh yes, it’s back. The tortilla pizza. Did you think I’d go the whole week without it? :)

Woo, we made it through Wednesday!!

I hope you all are amazing!!

  • What are the little things that make you smile?

For me, it’s sunny days, flowers (even if I bought them for myself)….and good, simple eats. haha Well…there are a ton more…but I can’t think of them…

Dedication

Hey, hey everyone! Sunday, already? Ahh – the weekends always fly by, don’t they?

Tonight’s post, I’m dedicating to THESE:

I am seriously obsessed with Trader Joe’s Whole Wheat Flour – Reduced Carb – Tortillas! Why you ask? Whole Wheat? Sure. Reduced Carb? Okay. Only 45 calories a (small) tortilla? That’s pretty nice. Seven grams of fiber per tortilla? Also pretty sweet. …..However, the REAL reasons I love these are none of those (and those reasons are pretty awesome, wouldn’t you say?)… it is because they taste absolutely amazing and are sooo versatile!! When I first opened the package, I was sooo surprised. These little babies are more like crepes than they are tortillas!! (Which, I’m pretty sure if you slapped one of these puppies in a pan, browned it up a little and slathered some Nutella inside you’d be in h.e.a.v.e.n.) – I used them in both my dinner and my lunch today – nom.nom.nom. haha

Anyway – onward…

Breakfast was pretty standard…the exceptional thing was that I actually ate cereal at the “proper” time of day … amazing. I had a real breakfast today. haha Coffee and cereal goodness.

Today was supposed to be glorious, too. I knew I wanted to spend a lot of time outside, and I needed to get some grocery shopping in…so off I went – pretty early. Now, for me, grocery shopping (especially big trips) needs to be done in shifts…I don’t have a man or a roommate to go do my shoppin’ with me (that isn’t meant to sound depressing – it isn’t – it’s just a fact haha)…and when you have to carry gallons of milk, etc. for a few blocks…it’s better to do a couple of trips. haha

First trip: Trader Joe’s

Stocked up on lots of cheap goodness…and yes, Panda Puffs…because clearly, I am a child.

Next trip: Shaw’s

Needless to say, my fridge is very, very full. :)

I immediately cracked open the box of the Wheat Thins Artisan White Vermont Cheddar crackers. Yum! Highly recommend…brought me back to my love for Cheez-its as a kid (…and adult)…but way better for you.

I spent the afternoon rearranging my apartment – I had all of my windows open – and it was just like…moving in all over again. haha. I like my set up now – I live in a studio apartment…teeeeny-tiny…but now it’s arranged so that there are more “dedicated” sleeping and lounging areas…plus a lot more space it seems. haha Pretty proud of myself.

For lunch, I had a few peanut butter and jelly roll ups (Mighty Maple + Blackberry jam, to be exact). Delicious! :-D

Dinner continued my use of the lovely lil’ tortillas: Dietz & Watson Buffalo Style Chicken with an herb and greens mix and Laughing Cow cheese!! I had two of these babies. Mmm, I love the mixture of herbs in with the greens.

Tonight will be spent relaxing and enjoying my new set up…maybe if I get ambitious, I’ll get a head start on some stuff for the upcoming weeks. :)

I hope you are all wonderful!!

  • Do any of you like to rearrange your living space often??

I like to switch it up. I would have never thought about my current set up a year ago…and now I love it!

Usin' the ole bean

Hey hey hey. Ahhh, it feels so good to be done with midterms!! I don’t really know how I did on my last one (I feel like I never get a good night’s sleep before exams for this one, specific course). However, I did the best that I could and racked the ole bean for every possible answer. *sigh*

I’m only one day of 2 classes away from Spring Break and I’m so so so so so happy. :-D

In the process of editing my photos, I realized how … monotone my eats were today. For that – apologies!!

I started off with a homemade latte – briiiight and early (5am). Definitely needed. I spent the morning going over final details of study guides and all that jazz.

I also grabbed another skinny hazelnut latte from Starbucks on my way to class in the morning..the caffeine was definitely needed.

Since my course has two sections, we spent the first half reviewing, and when we had a break – I fueled up with a LUNA. Yum. :) Even if food didn’t help my think more clearly, it definitely calmed my nerves to munch on something.

After surviving the day, I came home and fueled up on some apricots and some White Chocolate Wonderful — more than what is shown in these pics. haha

I am not gonna lie – I napped this afternoon. I ran some errands and then I crashed. It felt reallllly good, and what was even better? Time for dinner when I woke up! haha :)

On the menu, Trader Joe’s Black Bean Soup with Sriracha and some toasted tortilla for dippage. I did enjoy this – but it wasn’t my favorite. I think I expected it to be thicker. I will probably buy again, but I might enhance it with some incredients of my own.

Tonight, I’m determined to get everything done for tomorrow so that I can spend the day out and about and then I have dinner plans tomorrow night! Yay!

P.S. HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY, KATHARINE!!!!

Hope you all are fabulous! Happy hump day!

Food & Fashion. Is there anything better?

Hello lovelies!! I hope everyone had an amazing Monday!! Rarely can I say that I truly enjoy a Monday (that isn’t during a vacation…haha), but today was an exception. It was absolutely stunning out. It was one of those days that makes you think that winter might actually be over…however, I don’t trust New England weather that much…sooo I’m not holding my breath for this weather to continue – however, I am enjoying it to the fullest!!

Last night was the Academy Awards!! Who watched?! I really enjoyed the show…I was especially happy for Sandra Bullock…she is truly an amazing, humble person (well, from what I hear).

I watched all of the red carpet pre-shows – E!’s was by far my favorite…ABC’s…was awkward. Their interviewers were … awkward….especially Kathy Ireland. People are commenting on her being drunk or on some sort of drug…but honestly, I think it was that she was nervous and that she was completely inexperienced at what she was doing…I think she scared some of the people she interviewed. Kudos for the try, though – I know I probably would not have fared much better.

I love, love, love the fashion, makeup, etc…and these are a few of my faves:

[source for all photos]

I know it's easy for a guy to put on a tux...but he's just so darn beautiful I couldn't resist.

White is hard to pull off, and Meryl looks beautiful and poised...as always.

I absolutely adore Kate, and I think she looked beautiful.

On to my eats! Even though today was beautiful, it didn’t make it much easier to get out of bed after staying up to watch the show. I crawllllled out of bed and made myself a nice hot cup of coffee. :)

My first couple of classes went by without a hitch, and I enjoyed these suckers during a small break.

I walked home (soaking up the sun!) and once back at my apartment threw open allll of the windows. I love how alive the city becomes on gorgeous days like this.

I enjoyed some string cheese, a banana and White Chocolate Wonderful for an afternoon snack/lunch deal.Delicious.

And I sat down and began to tackle my color-coded to-do list.

And dinner came a little early. Hungry.Hungry.(Hippos).

On the menu…none other than my torilla pizza. I know, I know – I’m sorry to keep repeating it, but it’s just so darn good…I CRAVE it!

Tonight – I hope to get most of my French study guide finished – just so that I can really buckle down tomorrow afternoon because I’ve got a couple of meetings throughout the day. Fancy-schmancy. haha

I hope you all are fabulous!!!!

  • Did you have a favorite moment or fashion or ANYTHING from the Oscars??

Mine was definitely Sandy winning – she wholeheartedly deserved that, in my opinion.OH!! AND Neil Patrick Harris at the beginning – I love him, too and that was fabbbulous!!

Love.Love.Love.

Just One of Those Days

Evening bloggettes. Rain.Rain.Rain has been the theme of the day here in Boston. It’s windy now, too – so I can hear the rain and the tree outside scraping against my window.

Overall, today’s been a pretty decent one. Productive…busy. Interrupted by intermittent beeps from my fire alarm (though I think I finally fixed it!!)…

I slept in a little bit, but was up with coffee made by 9. I knew I had a lot of reading and note-taking to tackle, as well as studying for a quiz and other miscellaneous stuff for school. I leisurely enjoyed my coffee and got down to business around 10…not too shabby.

Today was a grazing sort of day — I just munched as I got work done. An apple with PB&Co‘s White Chocolate Wonderful, dried apricots (which I took a picture of…but I’m not going to post it – they just look…wrong. haha)….were among the things I devoured throughout the day.

When dinner time arrived – I decided that maybe I should tear myself away from work and actually sit down to a meal? It was a much needed break (though, I did take little ones throughout the day).

For dinner - stir fry! yumm. Spicy, veggie-filled goodness.

What’s for dessert, you ask? (‘cuz you know…there has to be dessert)

The obvious. haha Microwave mint brownie. :)

Sooo happy tomorrow is Friday — I’ll be even happier when it is Friday night! haha :)

  • Anyone else ever have days where you just seem to graze instead of actually sitting down to a full-fledged meal?

I don’t do it often…but today was just one of those days.

Happy (almost) Friday, everyone!!
