Hot potato, hot potato

Evening lovelies! It’s been…again…quite the crummy weather in Boston — though not as bad as in Cali! My best friend lives in LA (as I’ve mentioned before) and they’ve had tornado warnings! Craziness!

Today was the official start of the spring semester…except I don’t have Tuesday classes sooo no school for me! haha I spent the day being lazy/productive (it came in shifts haha), and wishing I had bothered to take my contact lenses out last night because now my eye is irritated. C’est la vie! If it’s not one thing, it’s another, right? haha

I was up early (but not too early), and enjoyed a fresh espresso filled latte at my desk. Checked my emails/Twitter/Facebook/Dailybooth — you know the drill. haha All the “essentials.” In the 20 minutes I sat there before deciding I needed food — it rained, snowed, sleeted and the temperature (according to my desktop weather) went up and down twice. Nuts.

I sliced up an apple and paired it with CRS. Delish. I’ve been doing the fruit for breakfast thing a lot more lately…I think it is because during the semester, I would get up…have my coffee, go to class and then come home and eat my yogurt mess. I think my stomach just isn’t quite ready for yogurt messes so soon after I get up. :) Though, they are still delish.

I got some paperwork filled out and prepped to scan…only to find that the scanning software I had is nowhere to be found on my computer. :( Lame. I’ll have to fax it at FedEx tomorrow or Thurs.

For lunch, I repeated yesterday — but with a bigger bowl. Split pea soup w/ parsley. Yum. So much green in one little bowl.

I also had a small glass (I only filled my big glass a little) of Polar Diet Orange Dry — which tastes just like Orangina to me. Yum. It’s got aspartame — but I don’t drink it often so I’ll deal. I also promise its color is much less nuclear looking than it is in this photo…

I spent most of the afternoon working on Internship stuff — *sigh* it’s gonna be really tough to find one.

For dinner, I heated up some frozen roasted corn from Trader Joe’s and enjoyed that while my sweet potato fries were in the oven. :)

When my sweet potato fries emerged from the toasty oven (hot, hot, hot) – I doused them in a bit of hot sauce and put some spicy honey mustard on the side. YUMM. I think it brings a new meaning to “hot potato” no? :)

So I’m currently noshing away at these lovely taters, and enjoying my last sane moments before my semester begins. Luckily, the weather looks like it will improve for tomorrow…*knock on wood*

Oh! I also created a new Twitter account for this blog — so now I have @jilianmarie (which is my personal one, and you guys are more than welcome to add me if you want, it’s just private) and @peacelovemunch (the blog one!). Commme on dowwwn and follow me! haha :)

I hope you all are doing splendidly and are not in that path of any torrential weather!!

Spice it up

Heyy everyone! Finals week has officially begun! haha I had my first (of three) finals this morning.

I was prepared.

Yeah, that was my French study guide that I put together. haha

This morning…whew…I was a lucky duck. I set my alarm for 5:45am..figuring I could get up, wake up, study a little before heading out the door…welllll, that didn’t exactly work out… Let me say, that someone up there was definitely looking out for me this morning.

So I wake up roll over and the clock says 7:16!!!!!! My final was at 8, and usually I am out the door by that time!!! I found my phone (which is what I program to be my alarm) on my couch across the room…which either means I threw it?? or I actually got up at 5:45 (no recollection) walked around…put my phone down and got back into bed. Either way…I was really lucky. I am betting it was the latter of those two options though…

Anyway, I was up…face washed, teeth brushed (by no means “done up”), in jeans, a sports bra and a sweatshirt…and I literally RAN to class. I made freaking amazing time. It is about a mile to class….and I did it in 20 minutes (with a coffee stop). A coffee stop? yes…haha I was booking it that I literally reached Starbucks at the same time as I normally reach it…I must have looked like a mess. haha

I got to class with about 15 minutes to spare, and was able to calm myself down and go over my notes a bit. Overall…it worked out, and I think I did well on the final.

I made my usual yogurt mess when I got home: NF plain greek yogurt, blueberry flax (new obsession), sunflower seeds and honey.

I got a little bit of a nap in, and munched on some Dark Chocolate Dreams throughout the day…and I studied! I swear! haha

For lunch, I munched on some popcorn with hummus. :)

At that point I gave myself a little break from studying (and a cramping hand) — and chatted with friends and caught up on some television. Ohh the simple things. haha

After that I decided it was time for some dinner. I had some Green Goodness, and made a stir fry with a summer squash, mixed veggie medley (broccoli, cauliflower, green beans, edamame, carrots), roasted corn, rice, red chili sauce (spppppicyyy) and soy sauce.

It’s really yummy … I’m still currently noshing on it. :)

My night is filled with studying, studying, studying and hopefully taking my PR exam online the moment it is available (midnight) just to get it out of the way…and then it’s on the study for my Ethics midterm tomorrow night. Joyyyyy. :)

However, the next time I talk to you guys I’ll be ON BREAK. So that it a wonderful thing to look forward to. I have a lot that I want to do with the blog while I’ve got the time to do so! :)

I hope you are all doing wonderfully!!!

Peace, Love & Munchies.

A sleepy day

Hey everyone! Hope you’re all well! Today has been a very sleepy – -but also productive? haha

Last night I barely got any sleep…maybe 4 hours at most? The people in the apartment above me decided that it was the best idea EVERRRR to move furniture from about 10pm til 2:30ish in the morning? I don’t even know…but it kept me up. This morning, I made the conscious choice to not get a coffee (though, I highly doubt it would have mattered) so that I would be able to nap.

Anyway, this morning – I grabbed a bottle of water and a couple of Odwalla Bars. I was hungry. haha I grabbed the mocha one and the banana nut. I have to say, the mocha one wasn’t really my fave. I’d never had it before — it just..I dunno…it just wasn’t that good. The banana nut is my favorite though.

I got home from class, and started some laundry. Technically, I could probably have waited and done it when I went home for Thanksgiving, but I figured that the house would be crazy enough without my loads of laundry. haha I also made myself a lot of popcorn for lunch. Yumm. I’m so glad I’ve started doing stovetop popcorn. It’s just such a better flavor! I also poured myself a glass of lime seltzer. I don’t know why, but I like to put fizzy drinks in fancier glasses. haha

I finished up my laundry, and just crashed around one. I ended up sleeping until about 4…5. I feel so much better now. I just hope I’ll be able to sleep tonight — someone I think I will, unless anyone else decides to move their furniture. haha

Tonight I made myself some of my rice mess. haha I’ll just call it that from now on…much easier. I added frozen roasted corn and some sliced fresh green pepper. YUM. I also sliced up a sweet potato and made sweet potato fries, and I’m currently finishing off the bottle of seltzer I started earlier (yes, in a fancy glass. hahaha).

I hope everyone’s Monday went well! Gearing up for Thanksgiving here in the States. So excited!! What’s your favorite Thanksgiving dish or dessert that is a tradition? In my family, we’ve always had these little turkey shaped sugar cookies with lemon frosting on them (so good)…they originated when we were kids, but seriously, I still love them. I also love my mom’s chocolate pie. My aunt also makes a KILLER ambrosia. Aside from dessert, green bean casserole is always close to my heart and stuffing and gravy…..oh man. haha Okay, I love everything.

I was watching Roseanne on the TVLand channel the other night and it was a Thanksgiving episode. And Jackie said something that I just found poignant. “I hate Thanksgiving!!! You finally get your weight to something you’re comfortable with, and then it’s Thanksgiving…..” haha I’ve been trying to be really good with my eats so that I can eat what I want over Thanksgiving. :)

Peace, Love, Munchies.

Green Machine Goodness

Ahh, I have to say, I am glad today is over. It is only Tuesday, but the week seems like it should be over already. Anyone else feel the same way? Not a good sign of things to come. haha I’ve just been really tired, and I’m honestly looking forward to a weekend of doing nothing – well, except working… BUT it’s a long weekend, and that’s always a plus!! Gosh, here I am blabbering on about the weekend and it’s not even Wednesday yet. haha

Anyway, so it was an early one…well, technically every day is an early one. I was up, out the door, coffee in hand, and in class for 8:30am. I managed to snap this pic of my coffee in the elevator – so incognito of me!

Class went well, got out early…which gave me the opportunity to get home and  EAT. I munched on a portion of a banana – some of it was just too bruised. I threw that part in the freezer though for some future banana bread-making endeavors!! Frugal, frugal, frugal! I also had a Trader Joe’s Fat Free Greek Yogurt – Honey flavored. I add sunflower seeds for some added crunch!! (Pre-shelled, of course).

I had a meeting at 1, so I had some downtime; which…I was a blob. I’ll admit it; I did nothing. However, I made it to my meeting, and then I got some “sushi” and a tea from Whole Foods. (Not pictured, unfortunately). The “sushi” was yummy a.k.a. a veggie roll made of brown rice, sesame seeds, cucumber, avocado and nori. The tea was – mehh. – I forget which brand it was, but I think it was more the fact that it was iced tea, that got somewhat warm before I could drink any, that was the problem.

I also grabbed a Naked Juice – Green Machine. So delicious.  It has a good chunk of sugar (from the fruit, no added sugars!!), especially since I drink the whole thing, which equates to two servings, but it’s just what my body needs to power through my last class of the day and hold me over until dinner.

Now, I have a ton to do tonight – so a good meal is necessary. I’m having brown rice with Trader Joe’s Autentica Salsa and a wedge of Laughing Cow Light, some unsweetened applesauce and some of Trader Joe’s Blueberry and Pomegranate Green Tea, again. I think I’ll probably also make some roasted corn later on.

On another note…they’re still filming for the Kevin James movie, “Zookeeper” around here. The filming signs are ever-present!

Hope everyone had a great day!!!!
