And the nominees are…

Hi all!! I hope you all have been having a stellar weekend…it’s been gorgeous here! Sunshine most definitely uplifts the soul.

I have a fab weekend which included family togetherness, a salon visit and a little shopping! :) Lots of delicious food, too, but unfortunately I have so much homework to catch up on before…THE OSCARS!…that it’s probably better that I don’t spend an hour or so going through my photos and whatnot. :) However, my eats included yummmy chips and pineapple salsa, my mom’s homemade soup and a copious amount of red wine - Lucas Vineyard’s Tug Boat Red, to be exact (enjoyed while catching up with my brother and watching Paris, je t’aime).

It was a wonderful weekend – a nice change of pace, and definitely needed after such a hectic week. Next week will be quite the hectic one, as well…

For now…my windows are open, French is being studied and I am readying myself for the Academy Awards!!! :)

  • Anyone else out there love award season?!?

I love the fashion and the films so I’m in heaven.

Reunited and it feels so good!

Ahh, alright — where to start, where to start?? First and foremost — YAYYY! to having my charger back, and BIG thanks to my dad for actually bringing it to Boston for me (is he great or what?!).

Sunday was quite possibly the longest day of my life. Gah. It was my last day at work (although there was quite a bit of confusion surrounding that…which I won’t elaborate on, as really — this isn’t the place to air those types of frustrations). It was a long and BUSY day…but I’m happy to have that weight lifted off of my shoulders — although they are still trying to uh..convince…me to stay through the holiday season, but it just comes down to the fact that …I’ve moved. I need to start my life down here, and really…I haven’t started it yet. Since I have had to work Sundays (which most of the time just involved going to my mom’s house in NH for the weekend because travel, without a car, is just so time consuming), I haven’t had the opportunity to go out, be social and find my niche here. It has almost felt like my apartment has just been this place that I stay during the week.

I still don’t quite think they understand that at work…they keep saying “But isn’t the semester almost over?!” — which it really isn’t — still have an entire month to go. However, after this semester there is another, etc. — and I just can’t take the chance of continuing to get sucked into it. I stayed in August when I really should have left because two people had just quit and they really, really needed me — but I just can’t keep waiting because, really, there is never a good time to give your notice. If I need a job down here…I will hopefully find one…but it needs to be down here; it needs to be where I live. Plus, school is a greater priority. A much greater priority.

Anyway, I had a lovely weekend, overall. I know I updated you a bit about my dinner and whatnot on Friday night. Saturday was a washout…literally…it poured ALL day. But it was  nice — my mom had a new fridge delivered (so pretty!), we organized it, lit a fire in the fire place, popped some popcorn on the stove, made a BOMB stirfry using some of a frozen dinner and some fresh brown rice, watched HGTV and make cookies! haha I also indulged in a love of mine…Cranberry Gingerale - yumm.

Bubbles.bubbles.bubbles. :)

Seriously, these cookies are so good — combo of sugar cookie/shortbread cookie with dried cherries and maraschino cherries!!

Yesterday was an interesting day — I think it was a prime example of exactly how much work takes out of me. I got up, went to class, came back…made myself the usual yogurt mess. And I literally PASSED OUT…I don’t know HOW…I slept until like 5pm?!? What the heck?! Luckily, I had nothing to do, but honestly, that’s just ridiculous. And the sad thing was that last night, I was able to fall asleep by like 11 or so. So it wasn’t like it kept me up. Ridiculous. However, I did manage to make myself a delicious dinner. haha I made the usual brown rice, salsa and Laughing Cow. I added some frozen veggies, and I cut up some delicious grape tomatoes and put them in there as well. Such a fresh flavor. Yummm. I also baked some sweet potato fries.

Today has been more productive (by miles!). My dad, as I mentioned before, brought me my charger along with some homemade jambalaya that he made! So sweet! He’s the best. Seriously, his chili and his jambalaya — soo good. When he and my mom were married I don’t think he was even capable of boiling water.

I made myself another yogurt mess this morning, and read the Trader Joe’s newsletter that I get (the best piece of “junk” mail, I get for sure).

I’m not sure what I am going to eat for lunch — but it’ll be soon. :)

Oh! I also got this little bit of promotional mail for a restaurant right around the corner from me called CafeTeria. I just thought this was the cutest advertising!

Anyway, HOORAY for being reconnected. I’ve missed reading all of your blogs!!!

Peace, Love & Munchies.

Evenin’ folks! Today’s been a busy day! :) I was almost eaten by an elevator at about 8:20 this morning…haha. Seriously, okay most elevators, if a person is in the way of a door will automatically stay open..nope, not at my school. Apparently they like to squash you like a bug. haha I’m surprised no bruising. haha

Either way, aside from almost being eaten by a metal box, today’s been good. haha I came home from my first class and made myself a big ole yogurt mess. :) You know the usual. Unsweetened NF Fage, flax seeds, sunflower seeds and honey.

I swear there is yogurt under there!

IMG_3274

There is it! haha

Man my legs are sore from my run yesterday — I did a lot of speed walking today (although, I’m beginning to think that “speed walking” is my normal pace…). This afternoon, I had some Green Goodnesss in a wine glass (everything tastes better in a fancy glass!! hehe), and a cheese stick and hummus & popcorn (all undocumented unfortunately).

IMG_3284

I did a brand new batch of rice though! I sipped on some tea, too. :)

Tonight, after my night class, I went to a lecture (for extra credit) given by a professor about Selfishness (it had a lot to do with bees and beehives? buzzbuzzzbuzzzzz!!). It was interesting…I’m glad I went, for the extra credit, but yeah…it was lacking in my opinion. Either way, I got home and nuked the very last of my rice (not the new batch) and added some salsa and Laughing Cow Light. Oh, and some spinach, too!

IMG_3285

I might have enjoyed a few spoonfuls of PB tonight, too. Ahh, why not? haha :)

Hope everyone had a splendid Thursday! Ah, yay for tomorrow being Friday!!

Peace, Love & Munchies.

Somethin' to chew on…

Oh my, it’s 8pm already?? Ahh, Wednesdays always fly by. Today has been a good day. Lots of productivity!! :)

Again, the beginning of my day started out shaky — I think I just have been easily dehydrated as of late. Instead of my usual coffee, I decided on getting some tea this morning so that I would be getting some water into my system, instead of milk. I stopped by the local Derne St. Deli and got a tea – to goooo. :) I’ve heard their food is delicious, I’ve just never had it…it sure did smell good in there though. I’ve been hydrating ever since. It really is amazing how much better you function (body and mind) when you are hydrated.

On my way home, I picked up the latest issue of In Style (the one with Reese Witherspoon on the cover) in order to do a little “research” for my advertising class — aka I needed an excuse to look at pretty clothes I can’t afford. I was pleasantly surprised to open up the magazine and see THIS advertisement.

IMG_3176

Oh and so you know — the text says: PHOTOGRAPHER: Captivated -STYLIST: Jealous – MODEL: Flattered, but not surprised

Honestly, I was surprised to see it — especially in a magazine mostly devoted to style, but it made me really happy. Why? Because she is beautiful, and God knows that young women need to see that people…BEAUTIFUL people…come in all different shapes and sizes. I read an article yesterday (which I’ll admit, I found due to a “tweet”) about how 19 out of 20 young women would switch bodies with someone else if they could. I just found that so sad…and believe me — I’ve been there. Heck, there are days when I’m STILL there. There are days when I look at the mirror and say “ICK!” I still struggle with the fact that I am a woman who is 5’10″ (yeh, I’m tall). — My body isn’t where I want it to be, but you know what, that doesn’t mean there is anything wrong with it though!! This society (not just in the US, but it’s really almost universal in Western culture now) projects these unattainable, airbrushed images of women…I cannot imagine being a teen girl today. It was hard enough for me 10 years ago (eeps, I was 13 that long ago?? haha).

Here’s a link to that article: 19 of 20 young women ‘would change bodies’

I spent the afternoon perusing the magazine, sipping Green Goodness, enjoying greek yogurt, flax, sunflower seeds and honey, and munching on popcorn and hummus

I love Cedars. It’s somewhat local. I drive by the headquarters on my way to my mom’s house and to my dad’s house, too, actually. haha

After class, I came home and immediately put some sweet potato fries in the oven and made myself some brown rice, salsa, Laughing cow, corn and spinach.

Oh, and last night, I made that concoction of vanilla pudding with some creamy honey peanut butter mixed in. Oh. My. GOODNESS!!! SOOOOO GOOD! That’s my dessert tonight, again. haha Seriously, only about a tablespoon of PB went into the entire batch of pudding — it’s the perfect peanut butter flavor. Yummm.

I hope everyone’s day has been absolutely spectacular! Hump day is almost over!!

Peace, Love & Munchies!

A colorful day in the neighborhood

Good evening everybody! Hope your Monday went well! Mine has been alright — I was productive…and yet non-productive at the same time. haha

I did get my grocery shopping done. Yay!! haha Shaw’s called my name, and didn’t disappoint (except for the fact that it was probably about $10-$15 more expensive). I found lots of yummy goodies.

Ta-daaaa.

My fridge is now STOCKED.

This afternoon, I cleaned up my apartment a bit…giving me the opportunity to show you the lovely desk I put together. Yep…THIS is what kept me from posting:

IMG_2964
It was a pain to put together, but it’s purrrrdy (and sturdy! hahahaha)

You can sort of see it in that picture, but the tree outside my window is finally starting to change! Pretty colors!

IMG_2965

For lunch, I snacked on some Sabra – the Peppadew flavor, and some popcorn.

After lunch, I had to head up to campus to meet with a girl who is part of my group for a project. It went really quickly actually, and was a lot of fun. The walk there was gooorgeous. Peak fall colors in Boston right now.

IMG_2971

For dinner tonight, I made myself the usual brown rice, Laughing Cow, and salsa concoction. It was the end of the batch so it was made right in the tupperware…and it does not look very pretty. haha

IMG_2973

^spicyyyy and more like taco sauce than what I think of as salsa. It was really good with my rice, but I wouldn’t dip a chip in it. haha

IMG_2976

Now, I’m enjoying some Tetley Mango Passionfruit Acai Green Tea. It’s seriously delicious!

IMG_2979

Off to relax a little and then crank out some homework!

Enjoy your evenings!!
