First Day

Evening everyone!! I hope you all are doing well! I am definitely tired, but I had a really great first day at work. My day was filled with learning the ins and outs of my department – though I can’t speak on much of it due to confidentiality … it’s not blog stuff anyway. haha

I was up bright and early (and before my alarm). I had precoffee-m-set my aker so coffee was waiting for me when I got my butt out of bed.

I packed up my lunch for the day – some of Mom’s soup, some cheese and some dried fruit. Deeelish. I had a very pleasant lunch on the 13th floor this afternoon.

I got dressed for the occasion – and not really knowing the strength of their AC (you never know some places can be freeezing) I opted for pants and a button up for the first day. Plus, it’s always nice to play it safe until you see what other people where and what is really deemed appropriate business attire.

My hip/waist blends with the comforter. hah.

Once out the door – I enjoyed a lovely walk to work and then a lovely day. I learned too many names for me to possibly remember – but I do remember a few. haha

I will admit – I needed some caffeine halfway through the day. Thank you, Starbucks. It also doesn’t hurt that there is a lovely park near my work to enjoy said Starbucks.

I got home and went out to get a few essentials and snacky items. My bro is visiting for a couple days before he goes on a little vacay.

Oh, by the way…Honey Sesame Almonds from Trader Joe’s? Amazing.

Dinner ended up being the brown rice, cranberry balsamic vinaigrette, and cranberrry/orange goat cheese combo that I had discovered last week. Mmm…I  love how the goat cheese just softens slightly with the warmth of the rice.

Ahh – so now I’m off! Lots to do tonight before I officially crash (and oh, I will).

Let the sun shine in…

Ahh, good evening everyone!! It’s been a long day. Started out in NH but now I’m settled back into MA. :)

My NH breakfast started out with unpictured java and some Nutella overnight oats. I finally got the liquid to oats ratio right – thanks to Kat’s suggestion of just eyeballing the liquid just past the dry oats – then mixing. Thanks, girl! Plans soon, k?? :)

These were delicious – a combo of vanilla extract infused into the oats, crunchiness of almonds and the Nutella made for a great morning meal. Then again…you could probably put Nutella on cardboard and it’d taste good.

Once arriving in Boston (and maneuvering the T with my suitcase…all while being asked by different people simultaneously if they were getting on the right train), I plopped down on my couch and just vegged for a minute.

Then I went into cleaning mode. I knew I wanted to do some hardcore cleaning. Oh man, was I in for a surprise. I contemplated taking photos but it was just gross. I have really high ceilings in my apartment – so my cabinets are about a foot or so from the ceiling (making them prime shelving! – esp. in a studio). I went up there to clean today and I was utterly disgusted. I honestly don’t think a single person who ever rented this place out had cleaned up there. Maybe they didn’t have as many pots/pans/kitchen appliances as me and therefore didn’t need it…but ick. It was a sticky sheath of grime. It took almost an entire bottle of cleaner to finally feel okay with putting my stuff up there. Eeep! It’s clean now though!

I didn’t have much food in the apartment and I was hungry long before I got the chance to go grocery shopping – which I did do eventually. I just munched my way through the afternoon…TJ’s string cheese, a LUNA a found in the back of a cupboard, sparkling water (okay, not a snack but refreshing), and lots of TJ’s tabouleh – it’s so fresh, I love it!

I also ended up picking up a bunch of these beauties from Trader Joe’s, as well.

Dinner was a mishmash of “old” and new. I had a couple of frozen Morningstar Farm buffalo wings left and some sweet potatoes that I had chopped a while ago – so those went in the oven. I also had some arugula salad with cranberry balsamic dressing. Yum.

For me, tonight will be spent relaxing, reading and perhaps some television. Depends if anything decent is on. Plus, I’ll have a house guest soon. Wahoo! haha :)

Food & Fashion. Is there anything better?

Hello lovelies!! I hope everyone had an amazing Monday!! Rarely can I say that I truly enjoy a Monday (that isn’t during a vacation…haha), but today was an exception. It was absolutely stunning out. It was one of those days that makes you think that winter might actually be over…however, I don’t trust New England weather that much…sooo I’m not holding my breath for this weather to continue – however, I am enjoying it to the fullest!!

Last night was the Academy Awards!! Who watched?! I really enjoyed the show…I was especially happy for Sandra Bullock…she is truly an amazing, humble person (well, from what I hear).

I watched all of the red carpet pre-shows – E!’s was by far my favorite…ABC’s…was awkward. Their interviewers were … awkward….especially Kathy Ireland. People are commenting on her being drunk or on some sort of drug…but honestly, I think it was that she was nervous and that she was completely inexperienced at what she was doing…I think she scared some of the people she interviewed. Kudos for the try, though – I know I probably would not have fared much better.

I love, love, love the fashion, makeup, etc…and these are a few of my faves:

[source for all photos]

I know it's easy for a guy to put on a tux...but he's just so darn beautiful I couldn't resist.

White is hard to pull off, and Meryl looks beautiful and poised...as always.

I absolutely adore Kate, and I think she looked beautiful.

On to my eats! Even though today was beautiful, it didn’t make it much easier to get out of bed after staying up to watch the show. I crawllllled out of bed and made myself a nice hot cup of coffee. :)

My first couple of classes went by without a hitch, and I enjoyed these suckers during a small break.

I walked home (soaking up the sun!) and once back at my apartment threw open allll of the windows. I love how alive the city becomes on gorgeous days like this.

I enjoyed some string cheese, a banana and White Chocolate Wonderful for an afternoon snack/lunch deal.Delicious.

And I sat down and began to tackle my color-coded to-do list.

And dinner came a little early. Hungry.Hungry.(Hippos).

On the menu…none other than my torilla pizza. I know, I know – I’m sorry to keep repeating it, but it’s just so darn good…I CRAVE it!

Tonight – I hope to get most of my French study guide finished – just so that I can really buckle down tomorrow afternoon because I’ve got a couple of meetings throughout the day. Fancy-schmancy. haha

I hope you all are fabulous!!!!

  • Did you have a favorite moment or fashion or ANYTHING from the Oscars??

Mine was definitely Sandy winning – she wholeheartedly deserved that, in my opinion.OH!! AND Neil Patrick Harris at the beginning – I love him, too and that was fabbbulous!!

Love.Love.Love.

Buhbye Stress

Hello, hello beauties!! Happy Wednesday! The week is halfway over — celebraaation! :)

Today was a really good day (even though it was grossly dreary! come back sun!!) – I got back my French quiz that I took after my lovely early morning, fire-alarm wake up call. Aced it! Hooooray! haha I was, honestly, worried about that one, and she mentioned how poorly some people did on Monday so that made me worry even more. Phew. Stress 1: fini!

Stress 2: journalism midterm. I think I did great on it – and it was allll short answer. That was all done by early afternoon so Stress 2 – byebye!

Obvs, my day began with a leftover latte (caramel flavahhed).

In the 2nd hour of my French lab, I munched on a Caramel Nut Brownie LUNA Bar. This is one of my favorites, too! I just keep discovering more flavors I love. Props to LUNA.

When I got home I munched on some new TJ’s dried apricots (they are much more photogenic than the last ones I had!), a cheese stick and then a banana. A fruit and cheese plate of sorts…minus the plate.

That kept me full most of the afternoon where I just sort of lounged. The grey skies made that reeeeaaaalllly easy. haha :)

Dinner…a familiar player: Tortilla Pizza! I used a new tortilla - Trader Jose’s Handmade 100% Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas. I love them for pizzas! They crisp up really well!! Mine got a little dark, but it was perfect.

On a somber note – I just want to acknowledge the tragic death of Chelsea King, in California. My prayers are certainly with her family – and it’s just a startling reminder that we ALL need to be careful when running, walking or generally being out and about on our own. For those who might not know of the story, Chelsea is a 17 y/o girl from San Diego who went running in a park in her town, and then went missing. Today officials uncovered what they believe to be her body. For the entire story, click here.

I know a lot of women run solo, and this story is just so heartbreaking and disgusting. My heart goes out to her family.

It’s not about being paranoid, but it’s about being aware.

Love.love.love. to all of you!! <3 <3

Kink…os

Evening lovelies. How’d everyone’s Tuesday go?? Mine has been pretty busy, considering I didn’t have any classes.

One nice thing…got to sleep in. Miracle. Especially considering they are doing construction in my apartment building right now. I think they might be the quietest, most considerate construction men, everrrrr. I’ve barely heard them…and they definitely did not wake me up. Thumbs up to them. *knock on wood that is stays that way*

Once I was up…decided it was latte time. I broke out my fave little guy:

I made myself a pot of espresso and assembled a latte. Yumm.

So I sipped on that while I got ready for the day. Perhaps the surge of caffeine is what I can blame this picture on:

I honestly...don't.even.know.

Also, welcome to my bathroom. hahaha

I was out and about doing some errands for a while…had to get to Kinkos/FedEx Office (the store says that it’s now FedEx Office, but still has the huge FedEx Kinkos sign on it…). It was seriously gorrrgeous out. Especially considering yesterday, it was awesome. So I faxed my little heart out and almost witnessed a brawl as the two women behind me fought over who was next in line…yah. Calm down peoples.

I also stopped by the grocery store and picked some more DCD…I’m addicted and officially have “stocked’ pb in my apartment. haha I also picked up some lunch….sushiii.

It looks pretty, but it was just alright…doesn’t compare to the sushi at Whole Food’s. There was too much cucumber…it made them almost watery tasting. …needless to say I ate it though.

Still hungry, I noshed on my last twisty string cheese.

Later, I got impatient while waiting for dinner to be ready and had a couple spoons worth of CRS…dangerous.

add.ict.ive.

Dinner though was lovely combo of sweet potato fries (also known as cheetahs to some) and some spicy spinach. Actually..I ate the whole box of spinach…hahahaha.

Ahh, so I’ve got a hugggh jasss amount of work to do tonight…I’ve been doing it all day — and I can at least say that everything I need to do for tomorrow is done — but I sitll have a ton to do for Friday. I had wanted to go to this movie night at my school tonight (which is 1/2 over by now anyway), but I just had too much work to do. They were showing Couples Retreat and I love Vince Vaughn…boo, wish I could have gone.

Oh well. Time for me to work my booty off — for a whole 10 more minutes and then inevitably get sucked into Biggest Loser (or at the very least the last 10 minutes of BL).

I just want to hug Bob. Anyone else? haha

Have a great night loves!!
