Failed Forecast

Hey all!! Monday…down. 4 more to go! haha :)

How are you all doin??

Today’s been fairly typical – everything went smoothly. Which is always good. It was forecasted to rain today…and yesterday for that matter…but there has yet to be even a sprinkle. It’s a good thing…but I hope it does rain tonight – clear out the air a little bit.

Monday’s are always so tough when it is grey out…as always coffee helped.

There was one thing out of the ordinary though … I had my first Larabar… no, seriously. I’d never had one. A food blogger sin, I know, I know. I picked up the banana bread flavor in between classes, along with a Vitamin Water Zero, and oh my gosh. Really?? So delicious. I’m officially obsessed with the banana bread.

I got home and decided because of the forecasted rain (that never came) I should get my stuff together and get grocery shoppin’ done.TJ’s how I love you.

I enjoyed a Cedar’s Mediterranean Chick Pea Salad. This salad has never failed me.

Dinner – dun.dun.DUN. Tortilla pizza!! haha I couldn’t stay away!!

  • What’s your “go-to” meal that you just can’t stay away from (in a good way, of course)??

Well – I hope you all are doing fabulously. Time for me to get down to business and do some work!! :)

Come on down!

Good evening everyone!! It’s beautiful right now in Boston…as I type the light is filtering in through my windows (the only time of day I get direct sunlight) and, if it weren’t for National Grid jack-hammering outside of my apartment – it would probably be the most peaceful thing ever. Alas, I’d rather have them hammering away at the road at 6pm instead of early, early in the morning. :)

Today has been an absolutely wonderful day. It’s been quite eventful. First, I woke up this morning, and logged into my Google Reader only to find that (shockingly) I had been fortunate enough to win Ashley’s Calphalon giveaway on Daily Goods. Amazing!! I was truly shocked because well…I never win anything! haha Again, thank you so much, Ashley!!

I’m really excited for those pans, and to try them out! Yipee!!

Today was also “Tea Party Day” in Boston…and Sarah Palin was speaking on the Common at 11. It made for craziness in the Common – which is always exciting. As the weather gets better, more and more events, rallies and festivities take place on the common…weeeee!

This morning started off with my usual coffee:

I also discovered the best way to carry little treats with me and not have them get smooshed:

My sunglasses are always on my face or on top of my head…so why not use the case, right? The Lemon Luna just exemplified my mood for the day.

I did a little shopping on my way home from class…stopped at TJ’s for some of these beauties!!

Tulips are my favorite flower – they’re just gorgeous. I love that they have greenery, too…the contrast of their bright colors and the green leaves…ahh yes, beautiful.

I also made an awesome discovery while in Marshall’s!! “CHEAP” Justin’s Maple Almond Butter! Okay..still not cheap but $2 less than other places! Ahh, this is why I love Marshall’s – such random and amazing finds!

Lunch you ask? Multiple PB & J (Mighty Maple + Blackberry Jam) roll ups. Nom.

Dinner…oh yes, it’s back. The tortilla pizza. Did you think I’d go the whole week without it? :)

Woo, we made it through Wednesday!!

I hope you all are amazing!!

  • What are the little things that make you smile?

For me, it’s sunny days, flowers (even if I bought them for myself)….and good, simple eats. haha Well…there are a ton more…but I can’t think of them…

Pounding the Pavement

Evenin’ blogettes!! I hope you all are well!!

Today was a busy, busy, busy day — especially for my “day off.”

I was up bright and early for an advising session, and then had an internship interview afterward. –a.k.a. I was very overdressed for my advising session haha.

The morning started with a glooorious leftover latte. I think they are the sole reason I get up in the morning…not gonna lie, I have been known to think about how good they are before I’ve gone to bed. Obsessed much? Maybe. There are worse things I could obsess over, right? haha

I spent the early morning scurrying around my apartment getting ready for my advising sesh (aka printing out every known transcript-esque document everrrrr) and getting ready for my interview. After much debate, I ended up with this outfit:

As you can see, I've moved the location of my mirror...you no longer have to view my bathroom. haha

I noticed the awkward placement of the ends of my belt……so they were tucked into belt loops post-paparazzi attack. It was nice enough out that my sweater was heavy enough and I didn’t need a coat (score!) — my only regret: the shoes. They used to fit my feet right…but with weight-loss…they no longer do…this led to blister-mania. Ouch. I’m babying my feet as we speak.

My advising sesh went great – I went to a woman I’d never gone to before and she was awesome. The best part? – I’m only 7 classes away from my degree. THANK GOD! I’m so ready to move beyond lecture halls and language labs.

After advising, I had some time to kill so I wandered over to Whole Foods and picked up a Cedar’s Mediterranean Chickpea Salad, which is sooo good – love the cranberries in it, and a Glacéau Vitamin Water Zero (XXX flavahh).

My interview went really well – which I was happy about, and everyone was very nice. :) I can see it being really easy to get intimidated by the place – it’s massive. I’m excited to work there come summer. Woo being an adult! haha….*I’m not going to say EXACTLY where I will be working…at least for now.

On my way home, I was craving the ‘bucks. I frequent it much less with my own espresso maker now…but mmmm every now and then a latte made by them is just what the doctor ordered.

I tended to my wounded feet over the afternoon and relaxed after a morning/afternoon of pounding the pavement.

Dinner was…a repeat. Tortilla pizza…again! I know, I know…variety is the spice of life – but this thing is just epic. Plus, this time I sauteed up my own spinach and used a little garlic. So… a little different. haha

Tonight, I have a lot that I want to accomplish…I HAVE to study -hardcore- for a midterm, BL is on, too – but I might just catch the end and study during the other 1 hour and 45 minutes before they start the weigh-in, haha, I have a design project that I really need to think more about and just random miscellaneous things that need to get done.

LUCKILY – after tomorrow my week eases up, and my midterms are officially done (it seems like forever ago that they started).I have a lot of fun stuff in store for the week, and of course the topper on the cake is that my vacation starts on Friday. MUCH NEEDED!

  • If you have a spring break or vacation, do you have any plans?? Heck, even if you don’t…if you could just drop everything and travel anywhere, where would you go??

Time for me to buckle down! Have a great night everyone!!

Buhbye Stress

Hello, hello beauties!! Happy Wednesday! The week is halfway over — celebraaation! :)

Today was a really good day (even though it was grossly dreary! come back sun!!) – I got back my French quiz that I took after my lovely early morning, fire-alarm wake up call. Aced it! Hooooray! haha I was, honestly, worried about that one, and she mentioned how poorly some people did on Monday so that made me worry even more. Phew. Stress 1: fini!

Stress 2: journalism midterm. I think I did great on it – and it was allll short answer. That was all done by early afternoon so Stress 2 – byebye!

Obvs, my day began with a leftover latte (caramel flavahhed).

In the 2nd hour of my French lab, I munched on a Caramel Nut Brownie LUNA Bar. This is one of my favorites, too! I just keep discovering more flavors I love. Props to LUNA.

When I got home I munched on some new TJ’s dried apricots (they are much more photogenic than the last ones I had!), a cheese stick and then a banana. A fruit and cheese plate of sorts…minus the plate.

That kept me full most of the afternoon where I just sort of lounged. The grey skies made that reeeeaaaalllly easy. haha :)

Dinner…a familiar player: Tortilla Pizza! I used a new tortilla - Trader Jose’s Handmade 100% Whole Wheat Flour Tortillas. I love them for pizzas! They crisp up really well!! Mine got a little dark, but it was perfect.

On a somber note – I just want to acknowledge the tragic death of Chelsea King, in California. My prayers are certainly with her family – and it’s just a startling reminder that we ALL need to be careful when running, walking or generally being out and about on our own. For those who might not know of the story, Chelsea is a 17 y/o girl from San Diego who went running in a park in her town, and then went missing. Today officials uncovered what they believe to be her body. For the entire story, click here.

I know a lot of women run solo, and this story is just so heartbreaking and disgusting. My heart goes out to her family.

It’s not about being paranoid, but it’s about being aware.

Love.love.love. to all of you!! <3 <3

Full Circle

Wow. Today has … certainly come full circle.

My morning…VERY eventful.

It started bright and early — okay so not bright because the sun hadn’t risen yet — with my upstairs neighbors’ fire alarm going off at 4am. Oh.My.God. They couldn’t turn it off (I didn’t ask why when I ventured into the hall about 20 minutes into it going off…) so they had to call the fire department. I didn’t go back to sleep cuz who knows, BFD could have said there was carbon monoxide or something…so it wasn’t until they pulled away at about quarter to 5 than I crawled back into bed for a couple more hours of shut eye.

Oh – the eventfulness didn’t end there.

In the first 15 minutes of being awake I did all of these things: dropped an open canister of espresso coffee, resulting in espresso grounds all over my kitchen floor; smacked my head on my kitchen counter top while getting up from cleaning said coffee beans; and then scalded my hand when my espresso maker boiled over.

Obviously – not my morning.

A much needed cup of piping hot caffeine did come of the circus in my kitchen this morning.

LUCKILY. Things began to look up with my first step out of my building: BLUE SKIES!!!!!

I made it through my first class – maybe made it through a quiz in my 2nd (I dunno…lack of sleep was killing me)…and the rest of the day followed suit. I grabbed a coffee after my 2nd class…we were watching a movie in my 3rd class and I KNEW I’d fall asleep if I didn’t charge up.

I decided to grab some LUNA bars to get me through the rest of the day. YUM. I love the LemonZest flavor and the Cookies n’ Cream was good….not anything special, in my opinion, though.

It started to rain on my walk home, big, heavy, COLD raindrops – so I grabbed the T. Once home, man…did it feel good to relax. I immediately peeled off my boots and just lounged.

Ya know, looking at my day as a whole…it just kept getting better, so I can’t complain. Yeh, maybe it didn’t start out so great — but I can sort of laugh at it now. I mean…seriously, this morning – in my kitchen…you couldn’t have written a scene like that.

The culmination of “The Day Keeps Getting Better” was dinner. Tortilla pizza (again)…haha I’m on a “pizza” kick! Yum. This was the best so far…frozen (drained) spinach and roasted peppers made it extra delicious!

Today came full circle – and I will be catching up on lost sleep tonight. :) For now, I am catching up on some TV and just being a bum.

  • What about you ladies?? Any awesome plans for the weekend??
