Return of Rice

Oof — today’s been a long one. I have not been on my A-game. I have not felt well. I kept waking up every half hour or so – starting at around 5am. Plus, my stomach has not been feeling on point. Due to both..I stayed in bed pretty much all day. I feel guilty missing classes, but I have to keep telling myself – it’s just one day.

Luckily, I’m feeling more myself now — and my stomach has felt more itself as the day has worn on.

I had some yogurt with some blueberries. I blended the blueberries with some vanilla extract and truvia. It made for a lovely pair, and was pretty easy on my stomach.

I also had a microwave brownie this afternoon (yummm) A couple of you lovely ladies asked about the recipe for that – so here it is…

I use 2 tablespoons of mix for 1 tablespoon of yogurt – and I’ve come to adjust the time (especially only for one serving) to approximately 25 seconds so that it’s still a little molten. Yum. Basically, nuke that sucker til it’s the consistency you want. The mix I use is “No Pudge Fudge Brownies.” I’ve currently been using the chocolate mint flavor. They boast being fat free, which is nice, but I more like the fact that they are all natural and just delicious. The one serving recipe is on their box, too. haha :)

I got a lot of work done this afternoon – which was nice…but uhg…still feeling guilty about a day of missed classes. :(

Anyway, dinner tonight was an old school brown rice mess. I needed to make a fresh batch of rice so it was the perfect time. I used salsa verde and some feta. Yummm.

I’m not gonna lie, I’ll probably have another brownie tonight. :)

Time to get lots of work done.

I hope you all had a wonderful Wednesday!!

Back in the Saddle

Good morning!! I cannot believe its Sunday already AND that I did not really post yet this weekend…*sigh* haha

I hope you all have had a splendid weekend!! My weekend was pretty good, low-key, but good — even with a dentist appointment in there. haha

I’ll kinda do a wrap up of what’s been going on for the past couple of days (which feel like eternity in blog-time, right?)  Friday was a VERY busy day — I trekked all the way to school with ALL of my books (two whole bags worth, joy)…and I put them all in…my LOCKER. YES! A locker…in college. Who woulda thought. haha It feels SO high school, but it’s a life saver. I’m glad my school does it (considering how many kid’s commute its a good idea). I didn’t even have a locker in high school (eons ago)…I think the last time I actually remember using a locker was in 5th and 6th grade…and it might have been plastered with photos of Leo DiCaprio (Titanic, obvssss) and Hansen. hahahahaha

(source)

All joking aside, this locker really will save my ass this semester — or should I say…it’ll save my back.

It was a hectic day which included hopping the train home for my appointment yesterday. While I waited for the train a random middle-aged woman decided to talk to me about how she likes how I do my eyeliner and asked me to instruct her on how to do it…. yah…yayy cities! haha :) I honestly don’t think she was a weirdo…though it was a weird topic of conversation to have with someone you’ve never met or spoken to previously…I think she was just very interested in how I do my eyeliner. ha She continued to talked about galoshes and how she wears them in the garden but doesn’t get how people where them to walk around the city…her thoughts…they’re feet must be cold! My thoughts: I guess you’d rather have cold dry feet than cold wet feet.

Moooving on. Yesterday, I was up bright and early for my dentist appointment (*dread) — it went well actually, my hygienist was so nice (some of the ladies there can be quite mean about flossing deficiencies….haha). I walked away unscathed and happy camper with a new toothbrush, floss, toothpaste and a 2010 planner. haha What? Everyone’s dentist doesn’t hand out planners?? :-p

Breakfast was….A YOGURT MESS! SHOCK! I know it’s been a while. :) Chobani, honey, flax, and sunflower seeds. Nom, Nom, Nom.

In the afternoon, I enjoyed a couple of bowls of popcorn and an apple with PB! Woopwoop! :)

Dinner was baked green (and this time lost of other colors, too) rice. I told my mom that we should use up whatever veggies were gonna go back…so we ended up with the obvious spinach, carrots, onion, eggplant, and tomatoes … I don’t think there was anything else? Maybe? haha Either way…it was freaaaaaking delicious!!! I need to make this at my apartment ASAP.

After dinner, I totally intended on blogging…but I got sucked into the SAG Awards preshow annnnd the SAG Award’s themselves. As a former musical theatre geek…lemme just say…GLEE!!!!!! YAY! haha I’m so happy. Plus, the dress that Lea Michele wore was gorrrg (she was too, obviously)…I especially loved the color.

Anyway — hope you lovelies have had a wonderful weekend…that was mine in nutshell!! :)

Bring on the naners!

Hello lovelies!

Today has been a very low-key day — but a healthier one. :) Not only was food more ..uhh..appealing, but my back has felt better, too! Wahooo! haha I mostly cleaned (rocking out to Gaga, of course), and relaxed.

I made a really exciting discovery in my house today!!

YOGA MAT! and a pretty one at that! This is especially exciting for me…because it means I won’t have to buy one. :) — It was my mom’s (a gift from a friend of hers that owns her own yoga studio)..and she said it was okay if I took it!! Happpy, happy Jil.

I felt like spicing up my morning routine this morning — and though, yarrr, I still had my normal coffee… I shook up my yogurt mess. I did my usual fat free plain greek yogurt and flax – but I added banana and a spoonful of Nutella! :) Yumm. Banana was especially important to me considering when I was researching about my back issues, I found out that a lack of potassium could be a factor in knots.  Bring on the naners!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this yogurt mess…but a part of me just wanted to take bananas and dip them in melted Nutella. ..naughty.

I got a bunch of my laundry done (even when I’m home, I let my laundry pile up like I have to pay by the load — habit..haha), and hung out with my bro. Lunch was a huge mess of popcornstovetop yarrr. Best ever. All it needs is a little sea salt. :) I shared with my bro — but it was a TONNN. haha My tummy was verrrry happy.

I enjoyed some epic Diet Raspberry Ginger Ale by Waist Watchers — it uses Splenda — but it’s yummy.

Dinner was an indulgence: a bean burrito with cheese and salsa (I ate half and then ate the bean filling from the 2nd half), brown rice with black beans, and lots of broccoli. It was delicious. It was nice to sit down for a meal with my family and just chat. It also started to snow a little bit, too. I guess it was just all conducive to a comfy cozy evening in.

The new season of Biggest Loser is premiering tonight! Are you watching?

Have a fabulous evening!

Crisis Averted!

Ahh…the blogging gods have NOT been with me lately. haha

So I sit down to write this blog…and I think “oooops left my cord downstairs…”Soo I go downstairs…no cord. ANYWHERE. I loook and loook and loook – I look in every nook, cranny, cushion, pillow, blanket, pile of dirty clothes (my room, you guessed it), crevice ….EVERYWHERE.

I go to my mom, and I’m like “Uhh, did you move a white cord??” (Aside from being the queen of soups, she is also a well-known “stuff-relocator”…and their relocation is not always in the most obvious of spots). Nope. Nadda. Gahhh, at this point…I’m ready to pull my hair out — because after all that time…I FINALLY had my cord back … and it just VANISHED.

I tried calling my bro to see if he had used it at all…no answer. I scour the house again…even bathrooms…cuz who knows…maybe I put it down in some absolutely ridiculous spot! …no, no. So I try my bro again…SUCCESS! He answers. Ask him if he used it..”Uhh, no.” — but then he asks what color it was. White. “Ohhhh…I think that’s in my car.” My thought: How the eff did it end up in YOUR car? (Actually, it wasn’t just a thought, I said it out loud… expletive omitted)

So..MYSTERY. haha I feel very Nancy Drew-esque…or what was that book…OH! Harriet the Spy… I want to know HOW the heck my cord ended up in a car that I don’t own, have not been in, my bro didn’t use…see? MYSTERY!! haha

However, luck was on my side..because my mom managed to dig up a cord from like 1992 that actually fits my camera (why couldn’t she find this 2 weeks ago?? haha wishful thinking)…

Thank you, Mommmmmy.

Let the blogging COMMENCE!

Today (Cord Crisis of 2009, aside) was a pretty run of the mill day. I don’t know..nothing out of the ordinary. I’ve started to think of the “Resolutions” for the upcoming year…I always keep myself in check…aka..it has to be realistic.

I mean…what’s the point of a “I will meet and marry [insert male {or female, whatever floats your boat} celebrity] and we will live happily ever after in his{or, again, her} mansion(s),” resolution if it won’t happen…although, it …if it did happen, it’d be nice. haha Even ones like “I will get a boyfriend in 2010″…who knows if I’ll find a boyfriend in 2010…would it be nice? yarrr!!…but that’s not a resolution..I can’t freaking control it. Why set yourself up for failure/disappointment?…Now I’m not saying not to dream…I just like to be realistic!

…oh, sorry..rant. Either way, I’ll be sharing my resolutions soon enough. It doesn’t seem like New Years Eve is almost upon us though…I feel so out of touch. haha

Upward and onward…FOOD!

The day started with some drip coffee with non-fat milk. Yummmy. I also found Pac Man in my coffee…this instantly reminded me of all the shapes that Kath finds in her coffee. :)

And yes…I used a “Mom” mug…I think this was one of those magazine drive gifts from when I was in 4th grade…I mean, I obviously saw it and just thought “MOM!!” — what are the chances?

I also enjoyed a yogurt messss. I actually toasted my sunflower seeds today. Getttttin’ fancy.

I did a lot of reading today — it was glorious. I munched on popcorn and Sabra Roasted Red Pepper Hummus while doing so. Multitasking at its finest.

Tonight, it’s just been Mom, me and the dog. I know…excitement. haha Although…I did try out a new salsa in my brown rice mess! Wahoo! I know…you can never tell what I’m gonna do next!

Seriously, this stuff is so damn good. It’s spicy and there’s the underlying sweetness of the pineapple, but every now and then you bit into a nice, big, juicy hunk of pineapple..and mannn, spicy, savory and sweet nevaahh tasted so good! It’s been my only foray into the world of the Desert Pepper Trading Company (apparently part of the El Paso Chile Company)..but if their pineapple salsa is any indication of their others…I’ll be back for more.

My best friend also gave me a wicked nice (yeah, yeah, I’m a New England girl) set of tea for Christmas. Tazo teas! Yummm. I’ve never really been a fan of plain green tea…however, it seems it was just because I was drinking the wrong kind…duh. The China Green Tips is perfect for me. I never have enjoyed the lemongrassy-minty aspect of green teas I’ve had before..but this is right up my alley. Delicate. Perfect with a little honey. :)

I’m still working on a cup of it (multiple cups have been consumed).

These little diddies came onto my radar as well…and they didn’t stand a chance.

Yum.Yum. Dark chocolate.

I hope you allllll are well!

Anyone got any killer New Years Eve plans??

Peace, Love & Munchies.

Christmas shopping — check!

Evening everyone!!

Today has been a very, very full day! Originally, I thought I had woken up wicked late…the clock on my computer said 11:14, but it was actually earlier. That’s what I get for no longer having a clock in my room at my mom’s house! haha Either way, I got up and started planning the day…since finally the roads were clear and I could actually get out of the house!! haha I was determined to finish my Christmas shopping TODAY.

Thankfully, the store was NOT like this:

I made myself the usual yogurt mess and coffee. You guys have seen plenty of photos of those so I’m sure you don’t miss those pics. haha I also munched on a banana and a cheese stick before leaving the house.

I needed to finish up my shopping today — and I did just that! I got everything I needed at Barnes and Noble (including another cup of coffee :) ), and completed it in just over two hours! So proud of myself…spent a bit more than I expected, but ya know what…Christmas comes but once a year.

I won’t divulge what I got…who knows…a family member of mine could be secretly reading this! haha I have no clue, so I won’t take the chances! But AHHH! I kind of want everything I got them for myself as well…haha :) Loved the coffee though — they didn’t have sugar-free hazelnut syrup, but meh, no biggie — there’s just something about wandering around a bookstore — coffee in hand — that is so comforting. God…I’m such a nerd. :-P

I got home, unpacked and settled in for some quality time with my momma. We popped a lot of popcorn (stovetop..of course! haha) and watched some television and chatted about how ridiculous some people can be when it comes to portraying an image of themselves as something they are really not.

For dinner, I made my gorrrrgeous brown rice mess for both of us, and then we started some Christmas baking (Chocolate chess pie!) It smells soooo good in my kitchen right now. :) Pretty sure banana bread is on the agenda for tomorrow. Yipeeee.

My dog is whining to go out…even though she just went out…*sigh* yes, apparently I’m giving you the play-by-play of my life at this exact moment.

Either way, I’m happy to have my shopping DONE! wahoo — I’m sort of afraid to look at my checking account balance though…. eeps. Tis the season, right? haha

I hope everyone is doing well!!! Stay warm!

I’m off to take some NyQuil (I feel a cold coming on…I’ve gotta kick it’s butt!), and relax.

Peace, Love & Munchies.
